Helen Shanahan at Coffee and Lyrics

Hybrid Warehouse

Welcome to ‘Coffee & Lyrics’ at the Hybrid Warehouse! A show brought to you by Fremantle folk duo, Sea Swallow – also authors of the book “Freo Groove”.

Our April 6th session will feature two masters of their craft:

The outstanding West Australian singer-songwriter, Helen Shanahan and guest poet, Bron Bateman.

Helen is one of Australia’s top songwriters and has a unique, truly captivating voice. Her thoughtful observations of everyday situations are beautifully captured in her music, which is best described as contemporary folk/pop with a strong acoustic feel.

Helen is an award-winning songwriter and performer, with two exquisite albums among her extensive body of work.

Bron Bateman is a poet, editor and educator. Her poetry has been published in collections and journals across Australia, the UK and the US,

In 2004, she was awarded the Bobbie Cullen Memorial Prize for Creative Writing and in 2017 she received Columbia University’s Winter Poetry Prize.

The event starts at 10.30am and cafe opens at 8.30am. Given the coffee machine is turned off during the gig so we can all enjoy the music, best to get there early to grab your coffee and snacks and the pick of the comfy couches!

We will have a small release of early bird tickets for $12.

After that, it’s $15 online and $20 at the door.

Children under 14 are free.
